A month of world-class events and memorable experiences in Cape Town

February 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting month for events in Cape Town. The city will be buzzing with spectacular events, from adrenaline-pumping sports action to soothing music experiences and amazing art exhibitions. Here is a look into what the month has in store.
The Mother City’s premier golf tournament, the Cell C Cape Town Open, the Maynardville Open Air Festival and the Betway Premiership are taking place at various venues during the week.
These are among at least 20 events, supported by the City, taking place this month.
‘Over the past weekend, our Events Permit Office monitored 20 events taking place in Cape Town. If this is any indication, this month will be another one for the books for the Mother City. The Cape Town 10s, MI Cape Town’s final SA20 home match, and the finals of the KKKA competition, with a combined attendance of over 70 000, were some of the highlights for this past weekend. The Cape Town Open tees-off on Thursday with more than 150 of the world’s top golfers at the Royal Cape Golf Club. The tournament, currently in its 13th year, runs until Sunday, 9 February.
Entry for spectators is free.
The Maynardville Open Air Festival, one of Cape Town’s oldest theatre traditions, is taking place at the Maynardville Theatre in Wynberg. With a programme that spans over three months, the festival delivers a brilliant performing arts experience that includes a timeless Shakespeare classic, the soul-stirring melodies of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Tour de Tchaikovsky, a Chamber Music Concert and a powerful performance by Cape Town Opera.

At the same time this week, Cape Town City FC will be looking to continue its climb up the Betway Premiership log when the local team goes up against Lamontville Golden Arrows at Athlone Stadium tomorrow.
The 19:30 kickoff game is part of the #FreeFootballforAll initiative, a partnership between Cape Town City FC and the City of Cape Town. As part of the campaign, the first 10 000 fans have free access to the match. Spectators can collect tickets from Cape Town City FC’s offices, at 54 Shortmarket Street on Greenmarket Square, the week of the game or at the ticket booth at the Athlone Stadium on game day.
Over the weekend, the DHL Stormers will take on the Vodacom Bulls in the URC at DHL Stadium on Saturday, 8 February. Kickoff is at 14:00. Tickets for the game are available at Ticketmaster.
Also on Saturday, the 26th edition of the 99er Cycle Tour will officially get the cycling season into gear this Saturday. Over 3 500 cyclists will take on four different distances including 95km, 80km, 76km and 45km from Durbanville through Fisantekraal, Philadelphia, Malmesbury and back.
The Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concert will close out what has been an exciting week for events with a live performance by singer-songwriter Matthew Mole on Sunday, 9 February. Gates at Kirstenbosch open at 16:00 with the concert starting at 17:30.
Tickets for the concert are available through Webtickets. Free entry for children under six.
